ABOUT ME

Jane Mostowitz – President – age 58

Officially diagnosed in 1994, CFIDS did not influence my life completely until a head injury fractured my nasal bone and crushed nasal cartilage subsequently causing a pseudonymous, staph, strep bone infection in 1992.  The very nature of CFS made  it hard to work so I stopped completely in 1996; applied for SSDI in 1999, approved in 2000. Like many PWC’s I depleted extreme amounts of funds  trying to get well with vitamins, therapies, other treatments .

By acknowledging CFIDS as my teacher, maintaining a positive attitude,  managing symptoms, and planning ahead, I can go anywhere, do almost anything. I have lived in Long Island, N.Y. -  Stamford, Connecticut – Houston and Huntsville, Texas . I attended Tyler Jr. College and Southwestern Paralegal Institute then worked a variety of jobs including East Texas Legal Services until owning my paralegal business. I cared for ailing parents for over 10 years. The positive and negative impact of that helped prepare me to take care of myself through the debilitating effects of CFS.

Running Houston CFIDS Association, occasionally volunteering with SNAP Wellness Clinic,  Pro Bono Paralegal work, and pet-sitting in my home keeps me sane.  When asked, able, and funds are available I love to participate in activities like dancing, the arts, home, hearth, fun, antiques, flea markets, sailing, riding horses, shopping, being on the back of a Harley, and photography. I am a foodie who loves  wine, entertaining, sushi, dive or fine dining. I really miss travel, an occasional cigar, and unique cultures or activities. I am not politically correct, give opinions you can take or leave,  and am a little eccentric. My pet-children are Blackie and Teddy Bear, are inside or outside (doggie door), on the bed, kiss your face pets. I am Jewish by race, non-practicing but very spiritual. I can go from poolside to formal in minutes.

I have cruised Alaska (caught a 45 lb. King Salmon in the Kenai River), and fished on an island off Juneau . Traveling to Monaco, Nice, parts of France/Italy/Mexico/USA was fabulous. When traveling I love to eat and stay where the natives do but I also love the luxe life and spas.

My favorite quote is from an anonymous source:

“Life may have its ups and downs with dreams on either side so take each day and live it well and just enjoy the ride”
